A Golden Wedding Concert
Martin and Elizabeth Kemp were married in Little St Mary’s Church in Cambridge on 12th September 1965, and chose to celebrate their Golden Wedding anniversary with a concert there, exactly 50 years on.
The church was full of friends and family, who came to the event from as far afield as Australia and America, not to mention Europe and the UK.
The fifteen musicians – including Martin – performed a wide-ranging programme of music from Gabrielli to John Harle, with Mozart’s quintet for piano and winds as the centrepiece of the afternoon.
The couple wanted to support the neonatal unit at UCLH, where their granddaughter Rosie was treated, and the donations they raised – well into four figures – will go to fund additional equipment and services for other tiny babies.
We wish them all the best for their anniversary, and for many more happy years!
