Local schools say thank-you for the care Rose received
The 11th floor ward at UCH, where six year-old Rose Allocca stayed, is a much brighter place thanks to the toys, puzzles and DVDs donated by her friends and teachers. It was their way of saying thank-you for the care Rose received when she developed osteosarcoma in her thigh.
While Rose was busy recovering and learning to walk again after her transfer to The Royal Marsden in Sutton, local schools were organising loads of different events to raise money for the UCLH Charity. These ranged from coffee mornings and a sweetie stall to an air flight simulator!
“The money and items they have donated to the ward will help make it a less frightening place for children like Rose who have to spend time there” says Judy Walker, play specialist for UCLH.
