When Barbara Howells died of a brain aneurism leaving three young sons, her family and friends decided to run the Asics British 10k London Run to raise funds for research into the hereditary aspects of the condition.

In November her father Hugh Kerr and husband Ian Howells presented a cheque for £10,000 – that’s £1 for every metre the team ran – to Professor Tarek Yousry, whose work at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery is at the forefront of brain aneurism research.
