The TTP Education and Research fund

The TTP Education and Research fund helps patients who develop Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura, an acute life-threatening disorder that is more common in women and typically presents between 30 to 40 years-of-age. Patients need urgent treatment with plasma containing the missing enzyme, ADAMTS 13. Even with treatment, up to 20 per cent of patients may die.

Therapy to improve time to remission and prevent relapse is being developed and our work has helped to clarify and treat subtypes – for example, women with a history of TTP are managed successfully throughout pregnancy.

Donations to the fund support continued research at UCLH and UCL and help the team to provide information for patients. Please send cheques to the main charity address, made payable to “UCLH Charity (0982)” – thank you!
