#TeamUCLH braved the chill to take on the Royal Parks Half Marathon last Sunday.
Runners took on the iconic Royal Parks Half Marathon – a 13.1 mile closed road route taking in London’s beautiful royal parks – last weekend to raise money to support patients, staff and research at UCLH.
The UCLH Charity team included Jo Gelona, deputy divisional manager for clinical support services, and head of therapies, fresh from her award win for staff fundraiser of the year in the recent Celebrating Excellence Awards.
Jo said,” I completed the Royal Parks Half Marathon on Sunday, this was my second time, I was going to take it easy as I am a walker not a runner but ended up pushing myself and completed it in 2 hours and 52 minutes – despite aching now I will definitely do it again next year (and may even train!) It is a fabulous route through London and an amazing atmosphere with live music – choirs, brass bands and a steel band, a real party atmosphere. I am so proud to have completed it for UCLH Charity a fantastic charity supporting staff, patients and research etc. Seeing them cheering you on around miles 6 and 9 was amazing – thank you for helping me get my medal”.
Thank you to everyone who took part. If you’re inspired there are places available in the Santa Run in December or the London Landmarks Half Marathon next April. Contact events
