The Lighthouse Appeal

UCLH Charity is raising money to support the UCLH Lighthouse.  

The UCLH Lighthouse is the only one of its kind in England a specialist centre where children who have been victims of sexual abuse and their families can access holistic support under one roof, to help them recover and seek justice. 

Over 660 children who have experienced sexual abuse, and their families, are supported by the UCLH Lighthouse each year. Families are welcomed to a child-friendly, inviting space where they can receive medical, psychological, social care, police and criminal justice support, all under one roof.  

The Lighthouse is a unique service where all of the people and agencies needed to support a child who has experienced sexual abuse come together under one roof. This means that families no longer need to spend excessive time and money travelling to widespread locations for different aspects of support, experiencing the trauma of having to retell their story. This approach has been proven to reduce trauma not only for the children involved, but also for their parents and carers. It also results in higher rates of convictions for those who choose to pursue criminal justice.  

Although many children and families are in need of the unique and holistic support that the Lighthouse service provides, there is a financial gap for 2025-26. This is because more and more people are using the service. 

We need to raise funds to continue to enable continued provision of this comprehensive service for the children and families who so desperately need our support.
