With its academic partner UCL, UCLH is at the centre of international clinical research into a wide range of diseases and conditions. In 2006, we contributed £7m to help establish UCLH and UCL as one of the five biomedical research centres (BRC) in the UK. Here are some examples of how we are supporting research at UCLH:
Charity funding enabled UCLH to launch the UK's first clinical research project into long Covid, leading to better understanding, improved diagnostics and new treatments.
We funded the establishment of a biobank to collect samples from patients with Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) a complex condition which can cause tissue damage and multiple organ failure, to better understand the disease and to inform possible treatment options.
The CNMAR brings together UCLH and UCL to support and enable nurses, midwives and allied health professionals to develop world-class quality of care research.
